Following on from the recent Katie Fforde thead, I have just finished reading my free copy of her new book ‘A Perfect Proposal’. (Thanks Charlotte!). Fforde’s latest is a rambling, bighearted novel in which a young Londoner becomes entangled with a wealthy American family.

Katie Fforde is a brilliant author — she writes characters that you enjoy reading about, or get very angry at and she writes plots that keep you gripped. In Search of the Classic Mystery Novel. Like, actually decided to win him back. East Dane Designer Men’s Fashion. A Perfect Proposal was just the book I needed to brighten my days during a bleak time.
The day thou gavest Sophie working so hard not to be a sponge on the generosity of Matilda and Luke was every bit as interesting as her equally diligent efforts to scrimp and make due with her own more limited resources. While it may be somewhat predictable, it is still a heartwarming, fun read. Return to Book Page.
Also, the timezones are all off, England is five hours ahead of New York, no more, no less. She is, basically, a Disney Princess.
Is it still the house of her dreams? Catherine Pope — Victorian Geek. He is suspicious of Sophie he doesn’t trust her when it comes to his grandma and his suspicions are only made worse when Sophie agrees to help find the old Cornish house that Matilda stayed in when she was younger back in England. She has a plan: Because Sophie wants to make Matilda happy, she gladly does the search. Be the first to discover new talent! In the background, Matilda is working her magic trying her hardest to get these two together, So it is basically a story of a poor but sweet and smart young woman eventually falling in love with a slightly older wealthy man —two such different backgrounds.
I loved the fact that there was a suspense factor to the story as right up until the last chapter you didn’t know which way the story was going to go. I’ve been thinking about a move for a while as I feel the blog needs The Eclectic Book Gatherer. With all the warmth and wit that have made Katie Fforde’s novels huge bestsellers in the UK, A Perfect Proposal is an irresistible tale of love and literature and the quest for ffotde happy ending.
Katie Fforde Reviewed by Jo Heffer 4. No mystery, no special effects. I particularly loved that she was an old lady who used email! Judging by the title I did ffrode it was going to be a full on romatic book but I didn’t find this the case.

The characters are likeable and believeable — especially Sophie, with whom you empathise, and Matilda, who is just the kind of feisty, fun new friend any woman would be happy to fofrde.

I am a Fforde fan. Hardcoverpages. From the moment Sophie hits the bright lights of Manhattan she’s determined to enjoy every minute of her big adventure.
Enjoyable, but it was frustrating that the heroine, Sophie, never ever stood up for herself to ffprde I really enjoyed this book. But alas, Sophie can only stay in New York for a week.
I nearly put the book down several times because of it. Seriously, what on earth is up with The Perfect Proposal? Sophie is joined in England by Luke to help look for the house and fforre keep an eye on Sophie. Published sinceher romance novels are set in modern-day England.
Not only that, but how often is it that someone so fundamentally good is the heroine? The first is I didn’t feel like the author had ever actually been to the United States. Her family take her for granted and soon pack her off to look after her rich uncle, which is where Soph I have recently found myself reading many of Katie Fforde books. View all 4 comments. The constant emphasis on how poor she is is also pretty grating, as she seems to have plenty of money to buy things in NYC but not enough to eat meals.
A Perfect Proposal was a mish mash right from the beginning. Linda Gillard on e-publishing House of Silence. So poorly the author could have handled this, but it was such a treat for me to read.
